St Patrick´s Day

St Patrick´s Day is celebrated on March 17, .This festival is celebrated to commemorate the death of Saint Patrick,saint of Ireland.
It is celebrated in Dublin,Ireland and New York City,USA.
NYC is it´s green in this day and the people paint in their faces a green shamrock and they wear green clothes or disguises.

This festival has a parade,where some people wear disguises like St Patrick,elfs and musers
play the bagpipes.
Also, it has dancers that dance typical dances from Ireland.










Also,in this day there are a lot of food stalls and there the people can buy food from Ireland,
the most important drink is beer. In the celebration,
one of the characteristics is that the people drink
 too much beer! They drink with their friends
and have much fun!







But... why is the festival celebrated every year?
Saint Patrick died on 17th March a.C 461.The day's spirit is to celebrate the universal baptization of Ireland.It´s celebrated the day of his death because anybody knows when he was born.
The symbol of this festival is the clover.


I chose this festival because I like it.I like it because when I was a little girl,and I lived in USA, I celebrated St Patrick´s Day and I have the best memories of that.I think that it´s so fun and cultural.
