The Venice Film Festival

This festival is a Cinematographic festival which takes place every year in the Palazzo del Cinema de Venecia. This is one of the most important festivals in the world.

In this festival, the best trophy is the Golden Lion, which the jury awards to the best film in the contest. The Jury gives a Silver Lion too, which is given to the best director of a movie.

There's the volpi Cup too, wich is given to the best actor or actress. Also, the Jury gives more Golden Lions to people that has contributed something in the world of cinema.

The Palazzo del Cinema it's located south of the lungomare Marconi, in the Lido of Venice. Inside we can find different rooms, we can find the "Big Room" and the "Volpi room"

65th Biennial Festival

The first edition of the Venice Film Festival was held in 1932 at the Hotel Excelsior, but its great success led to the construction of a specific site for future editions of the festival. This is the most old festival in the world.

This Festival happens at the Venice Biennale. The Venice Biennale it's a not-for-profit institution subsidized by the Italian State. It is one of the most important cultural institutions in the world.

In this institution happens the exposition of International Art of Venice.

The winners of the prizes at the Venice Film Festival in 2017 were:

-Golden Lion: The Shape of Water, Guillermo del Toro

-Silver lion of the grand jury: Foxtrot, Samuel Maoz

-Silver lion for best director: Custody, Xavier Legrand

-Volpi Cup for best actress: Charlotte Rampling

-Best Script: Martin McDonagh, Three Billboards

-Special Jury Prize: Sweet Country, Warwick Thornton

-Marcello Mastroianni Prize: Charlie Plummer

I chose this festival because I like the Italian culture, also because it's one of the biggest festivals in the world, and especially because I like the cinema.
