O-bon festival

The O-bon is a religious and cultural festival that commemorates the ancertors or the dead family members with a lantern made of rice paper. This festival have 3 dates.

Shichigatsu Bon: the Shichigatsu Bon is based in the solar calendar and celebrates on 13th and 15th July principaly in the kanto region (Tokio and Yokohama) and the Tohoku region.

The Hachigatsu bon´s date is on 13th and 15th August and is based on the lunar calendar. This are the most common dates in the country specially in the Kinki region.

Kyu Bon: the Kyu Bon (old bon) is celebrated on 15 day of the lunar calendar´s seventh month in the noth of Kanto, the region of Chugoku and shikoku and the ryukyu islands.

Toro Nagashi: is a ceremony where you ignite a lantern for a dead family member, this lantern guide your family member to the other world.
