Thanksgiving day

this day is national holiday wich is held in Canada, The united state,some caribean island and Liberia. this festival is celebrated on the second Monday of October in Canada and the fourth Thursday of November in the United States,on this day the families get together to share a dinner, wich is compose by traditional roasted turkey,mashed potatoes,caramilazed sweet potatoes,green beans,glazzed carrots and rollsand,  sometimes they also usually cook typical dessert, the pumpkin pie.but the question is why is it celebrated?

all started in 1620 when a ship left England carrying 102 passengers under the promise of prosperity and lands. The journey lasted 66 days, only the half of the passengers managed to survive the journey at the end they arrive plymout. where they were recieved by indians, After several days they managed to get a friendship thanks to an indian called abanaki.Later en 1621 a group of plymouth settlers shared a meal with the wampanoag indians to celebrate the autumm harvest, this would become the first thanksgiving day. Although it was not until 1863 during the civil war, president Abraham lincoln declared it a national holiday that would be celebrated every november.

i chose this festival because i was always struck by the idea of eating turkey because for me it isn't very common and because i like the idea to share with the family
