The Chinese New Year

                                            The Chinese New Year

This festival known as “The Chinese New Year” or “Spring Festival” is a festival   based on the lunisolar calendar. It begins in the first day of the lunisolar calendar and it ends with the beginning of the latern‘s festival, in these days begins the biggest human migration of the world, this migration is called The Spring Movement. In this period the people goes to their origin place.

                                                                                                          CYCLE

The animal zodiac:  there is a 10-year cycle of heavenly stems. Each of the ten heavenly stems is associated with one of the five elements of Chinese astrology, and these elements are: Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal, and Water. The elements are rotated every two years while a yin and yang association alternates every year. The elements are thus distinguished: Yang Wood, Yin Wood, Yang Fire, Yin Fire, etc. These produce a combined cycle that repeats every 60 years. For example, the year of the Yang Fire Rat occurred in 1936 and in 1996, 60 years apart.

                                                     MYTHOLOGY

According to tales and legends, the beginning of the Chinese New Year started with a mythical beast called the Nian. Nian would eat villagers, especially children. One year, all the villagers decided to, hide from the beast .An old man appeared before the villagers went into hiding and said that he's going to stay the night, and decided to get revenge on the Nian. All the villagers thought he was insane. The old man put red papers up and set off firecrackers. The day after, the villagers came back to their town to see that nothing was destroyed. They assumed that the old man was a deity who came to save them. The villagers then understood that the Nian was afraid of the color red and loud noises. When the New Year was about to come, the villagers would wear red clothes, hang red lanterns, and red spring scrolls on windows and doors. People also used firecrackers to frighten away the Nian. From then on, Nian never came to the village again. The Nian was eventually captured by Hongjun Laozu, an ancient Taoist monk. The Nian became Hongjun Laozu's mount.

Conclusion: I chose this festival because i think that it is very interesting how  people move and go to their houses and  they all together do a festival , dance , use fireworks and get really close among them

Chinese New Year

The Chínese New Year better known as the Spring Festival or Lunar New Year, abroad (China, Taiwán, Hong Kong, Macao and Singapore) is the most important holiday of the year.
the Spring Festival begins on the first days of the twelfth month of the lunar yearbook and lasts until the middle of the first lunar month of the following year. However with the modernization of China, some traditional uses are still being pursued today, but others have been forgotten, families carry out a thorough cleaning of the dwelling on the 24th day of the 12th month on the lunar calendar, to sweep the ghosts and ugly things of the year that concludes.

Due to the varied customs, some visit the tombs of the ancestors on the outskirts and others light incense sticks to greet the ancestors on their knees.

It is the last night of the lunar year in which to worship the ancestors with offerings, firecrackers are burned, dinner is made of the whole family and vigil is fulfilled.

That night the Chinese gather at home to dine together. The banquet does not start until everyone is present. If any member is missing, a service is placed for that person at the table, symbolizing the full family reunion. And many more traditions.

one of the most traditional and important garments to use is the qipao or cheongsam, and for men it is the suit adjusted with the collar.

The dazzling and bright Chinese New Year decorations never fail to capture the magic and energy of this fabulous season. As in the West during the Christmas season, all homes, businesses, shopping centers, offices, shops, airports, train stations ... as the Chinese New Year approaches they bring out their best adornments for this colorful season. A sea of red and gold envelops the city, bright lamps, plants and flowers of good luck are the characteristics of the season, announcing the arrival of the biggest and most important festival of the year.

I chose this festival because I always like to know the customs, traditions, etc. in the other part of the world and? Only because of that?

Boryeong mud Festival

Sujey De la Caridad Morales lazo.

History of the festival:

In 1996 a range of cosmetics was produced using mud from the Boryeong mud flats. The cosmetics were said to be full of minerals, bentonites, and germaniums, all of which occur naturally in the mud from the area.

In order to promote these cosmetics, the Boryeong Mud Festival was conceived. Through this festival, it was hoped people would learn more about the mud and the cosmetics.

The boryeong mud festival is about:

- The Boryeong Mud Festival is about an annual festival that takes place over the summer in Boryeong, a town about 200 km south of Seoul, South Korea. The first clay festival was held in 1998 and, in 2007, the festival attracted 2.2 million visitors to Boryeong.
The mud is taken from the Boryeong mud floors, and is transported by truck to the Daecheon beach area, where it is used as the centerpiece of the 'mud earth experience'. The mud is considered rich in minerals and is used for the manufacture of cosmetics. The festival was originally conceived as a marketing vehicle for Boryeong mud cosmetics.

Attractions

- For the period of the festival several large attractions are erected in the seafront area of Daecheon. These include a mud pool, mud slides, mud prison and mud skiing competitions. Colored mud is also produced for body painting. A large stage is erected on the beach, which is used for live music, competitions and various other visual attractions.
